It's a myth going around at the moment that electric ducted refrigerated systems are cheaper to run than gas ducted heating (even with the gas prices at the moment). Even if you have solar power, without a huge battery you won't be harnessing any of the sun rays and using more electricity. Also the heat from a gas ducted heater is far superior, with radiant heating up everything from the floor, cabinets, glass basically everything in the room. Electric systems only really heat up the air in the room and never gives you that cosy feeling as well as dropping temperature far more quickly as soon as its turned off.
